Acoustic Flooring Underlay System 15mm Thick

We have an exciting new product to solve noise reduction! This acoustic flooring underlay system can be installed as easily and quickly as any conventional carpet underlay. Acoustilay provides impact and airborne sound insulation superior to that achieved using standard underlays, this means Airborne sound is generated typically from sources such as voices, Hi-Fi systems or TV sets, and travels through the air into the structure of a building, and out again into adjoining rooms, and Impact sound is the result of physical excitation of the structure of a floor by impacts from footfall, moving furniture and dropped items, so if you live in the flat upstairs and are worried about “thuds and bumps” upsetting your neighbours – this will reduce it by up to 43dB Please remember that the degree of improvement you will achieve using any sound insulating material will vary with the quality of the installation and the existing structure of your home. Acoustilay 15 can also be used on the stairs, this is a bonus to reduce the thudding when walking up and down the stairs.

Acoustilay 15 can be used to meet Part E of the building regulations. The underlay is the best and quickest because you only need this as an underlay to your flooring, and fitting is just loose lay – simple. Acoustilay 15 is 100% Recyclable, which is fantastic for the environment and is 100% Sourced and made in the UK which reduces the carbon footprint.
Acoustilay 15 comes in mats and not rolls unlike the conventional underlay, Size of Mats are 1.20m x 1.20m – 1.44m2 per Pad, the thickness is 15mm.

Now for the technical bit!

Installation for Carpet
If you are fitting for the use of carpet you will require Acoustic Perimeter strips.
These are nailed or glued around the perimeter of the room with the acoustic seal compressed by two thirds to the wall or skirting’s – see diagram

The carpet gripper is then nailed in place on top of the perimeter strips- this will raise the gripper to the correct height to take the carpet.
Then the flexible acoustic sections 1200mm x 1200mm are tightly butted up to the perimeter detail, and loose laid in a brick bond pattern on top of your existing wood floor.

Then fit your carpet it’s that simple!!
